The department consists of 20 full and part-time faculty, over 90 adjunct faculty with clinical or teaching appointments, and 30 dedicated research, administrative and professional staff members.

The Executive Committee, comprised of faculty representatives from the Department's various divisions, centers, and programs and department administrators advises the Department Chairman. The committee meets bi-monthly.
The Department has 20 full and part-time faculty which report to the Chair, 10 additional faculty members with joint appointments in other departments within the University and
a number of faculty with academic appointments in the department but are in administrative positions at the Health Center and report directly to the Dean.

Almost 50% of the Department's faculty salaries are supported from extramural funding sources.

During 2004, departmental faculty authored 60 journal articies, book chapters, editorials, books and other scholarly publications.

The Department has two endowed chairs: Physicians Health Services Chair in Community Medicine and Public Health and the UConn Health Center Auxiliary/Joseph M. Healey, Jr. Chair in Medical Humanities and Bioethics.

Howard Tennen, Ph.D. was the first Board of Trustees Distinguished Professor to be named at the UConn Health Center.
